Vinod Scaria is a scientist at the CSIR Institute of Genomics and Integrative Biology. He is a clinician turned computational biologist interested in genome analysis. He is interested in understanding the function and organisation of non-coding RNAs, and how genomic variations could potentially impact them. He is also involved in creating novel methods and resources for analysis and annotation of genomes and understanding the functional impact of genomic variations. He has used adopted novel and creative strategies like the use of social media and participation of large number of undergraduate students in collaborative projects to accelerate genome annotation and co-creation resources for genome annotation.
